Handheld.ie reach final stage of InterTrade Ireland all island Competition

Handheld.ie have successfully overcome fierce competition in the first two stages of the InterTradeIreland All-Island Seedcorn competition in the New Start Company category. Having completed an in-depth investment proposal in the first round, and submitted a three minute promotional video for the second round, a panel of investment community professionals have shortlisted Handheld.ie to go to the third stage which requires the Waterford company to submit an investment ready business plan.

The competition offers a cash prize fund of €280,000 with €100,000 going to the overall winner in the early stage category and €50,000 to the winner of the new start category. The winners in the Northern Ireland, Dublin, Connacht & Leinster, and Munster regions will each receive a guaranteed €20,000.

“The process of being in the competition has been great for our business,” says Ciarán Cullen founder of Handheld.ie, “the business planning master classes have really challenged how we operate and clarified our target market as a business to business provider focusing on the food sector. Even if we don’t win the investment, being challenged by panels of investors has been really valuable and has set us on a profitable path.”

Competing against big data companies, Handheld.ie make mobile data collection software, information dissemination platforms and provide cloud storage services that allow clients to profit from using their data for decisions for their companies benefit. Handheld’s clients make a 75% annual direct financial saving on their current data capture costs, such as docket books, even before they benefit from all the indirect savings on administration time, production time and reporting time.

If successful in this stage they will deliver their investment proposal to a panel consisting of members of the investment community and compete across the Republic and Northern Ireland for €100,000.
