Bausch + Lomb has been named as the premier sponsor for Children’s Group Link as it launches its programme of celebrations to mark 40 years of providing services for young people in Waterford.
The sponsorship was confirmed by Bausch + Lomb Waterford Site Lead, Mark Hennessy, at a function in CGL’s Military Road headquarters in the city.
Mark Hennessy said Bausch + Lomb’s relationship with the voluntary organisation, which addresses social disadvantage for children, teenagers and other young people and their families, through the provision of recreational, educational, artistic, sporting, personal development, counselling services, programmes and facilities, has been very close.
“Bausch + Lomb, in addition to the company’s sponsorship and financial support almost from the establishment of CGL, has had a very significant input to the great work being done through the active participation of several generations of employees and former employees.
“In this year, the 40th anniversary of CGL’s formation, I am pleased to say that the commitment of our employees to this great voluntary effort and a host of other great causes in the city and surrounding areas remains as active and energetic as ever. This was one of the deciding factors in our decision to become lead sponsors. We wish Children’s Group Link many more decades of successful operation in Waterford.”
Brendan Halligan, CEO, Children’s Group Link, said he was very pleased that Bausch + Lomb had agreed to become the lead sponsor for the 40th year anniversary: “We have always enjoyed exceptional support from the company and from its employees – as a former employee, I am very well placed to acknowledge this – and the support given has been very helpful to the organisation.
“It has demonstrated the wide base of community support which we are fortunate to enjoy and has made our work in the difficult and never-ending task of attracting state agency funding a little easier by underlining the fact that the private sector is willing to support us financially and through the generosity of employees who give of their time and skills with an open heart.”
